How to set a heating schedule (timer) on your Switchee thermostat

Create custom heating times to suit your daily routine

You can program your Switchee smart thermostat to turn your heating ON and OFF at specific times throughout the day. This helps keep your home warm when you need it, while saving energy when you don’t.

You can set up to two heating periods per day.

Step-by-step guide to setting a custom schedule

Part 1: Access the programmer

  1. Wake the screen by touching your Switchee thermostat

  2. Press the settings (spanner) icon in the top-left corner

  3. Select programmer

  4. Choose heating

  5. Select set/edit heating schedule

Part 2: Program your heating periods

You can set two ON times and two OFF times per day (period 1 and period 2).

Choose the day(s)

  • Press the day buttons (Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.) you want the schedule to apply to

  • You can select multiple days at once

  • Selected days will flash white

Set the first ON time (ON 1)

  1. Press ON 1

  2. Press the temperature shown in the circle and use + / – to set your desired temperature (for example, 21°C)

  3. Press the time and use + / – to set when the heating should turn ON (for example, 07:00)

  4. Press save

Set the first OFF time (OFF 1)

  1. Press OFF 1

  2. Set a lower temperature and the time you want the heating to turn OFF or turn down

  3. Press save

💡 Tip: To turn heating “off”, set a temperature lower than the room temperature (for example, 5–10°C).

Set a second heating period (optional)

  • Use ON 2 and OFF 2 to create a second heating period (for example, evening heating)

  • Set the temperature and time in the same way as Period 1

  • Press save after each step

Final save

Once all times are set, make sure you press save so the schedule is applied to the selected days.

Alternative options

Use pre-set schedules

If you don’t want to create your own schedule, Switchee provides ready-made options, such as:

  • Home all day

  • Home mornings & evenings

To use these:

  • Select more from the heating schedule menu

  • Choose a pre-set schedule

⚠️ Important: Selecting a pre-set schedule will overwrite any custom schedule you’ve already created.

Hot water schedules

Hot water schedules can be set in a very similar way by selecting hot water instead of heating in the programmer menu.

Important:
If you have a combi-boiler, your Switchee thermostat usually does not control hot water. In this case, you can ignore the hot water scheduling option.
