How to fix common mobile app issues

If you’re having trouble with the Switchee Resident mobile app, most issues are quick and easy to fix.

The app is an extra feature only. Even if the app isn’t working, your Switchee smart thermostat will always work manually for:

  • Heating

  • Hot water (where available)

  • Temperature and schedules

Follow the steps below in order, as most problems are resolved early on.

1. Quick fixes (try these first)

These steps fix most app issues.

  • Uninstall and reinstall the app
    This resolves around 9 out of 10 problems.

  • Check your internet or GSM signal
    A poor connection can prevent the app from communicating with your Switchee device.

  • Check your email address carefully
    Login details are case sensitive
    (for example: John.Doe@email.com is different from john.doe@email.com

  • Check your junk or spam folder
    Pairing codes are sometimes filtered into junk email.

2. Pairing the app again

If you’re having pairing issues:

  1. Go to account settings in the app

  2. Select view paired devices

  3. Choose unpair device (if already paired)

  4. Start the pairing process again using a new pairing code

Important pairing tips:

  • Enter the pairing code within 1 minute or it will expire

  • Do not press cancel during pairing

  • Wait for the process to fully complete

3. Common error messages and fixes

Pairing not possible – Reason: start Pairing cancelled too quickly Wait a few minutes, try again, don’t cancel
Pairing not possible – Reason: timeout Code expired Request a new code and enter it within 1 minute

4. Still not working?

If the app still isn’t working:

If you cannot control heating or hot water and the issue is urgent:

  • Contact your housing provider directly
